Capitol Bowl’s new look

Capitol Bowl has been a cornerstone of West Sacramento community life since the early 1950’s.

Originally “El Rancho Bowl,” Capitol Bowl was the first racially integrated bowling alley in Northern California, the first to have women-only bowling leagues, and apparently a favorite of the Rolling Stones whenever they came to town for concerts.

A lot of my neighbors have been impressed with the new look – I guess the family that owns it now completely renovated it inside and out last year. This year, they added solar panels and changed the parking lights to LED.

Capitol Bowl is everything you like to see in a bowling alley – birthday parties, bowling leagues, happy hour in the bar and grill, and late night “glow bowling.”

During happy hour, $10 gets you a lane, shoes and a beer. If you really want to go big, spend the extra $4 and get yourself a pizza.
