West Sac Farmer’s Market

West Sac Farmer’s Market

One of the good things about living in the “Farm to Fork” capital of the world is all of the farmer’s markets.

In the Summertime, there’s a Farmer’s Market going on almost every day of the week (see times and locations here)

Here in West Sac, our farmer’s market is on Thursday evenings from 4 pm to sundown, running May through September.  (more info on the Facebook page)

I popped by yesterday to pick up some greens and fresh hummus. Local businesses sponsor a “kid zone,” which this week included face painting, a bounce house and a baking activity. There is also a “Sprouts Club” for kids ages 4 to 12. Sprouts sign up for free activities and they get phony farmer’s market money to buy whatever fruits or veggies they want to try.

The West Sac market also hosts DigIn! – a three course farm-to-fork dinner prepared by a local chef. Tickets are available at the West Sac Chamber of Commerce website.

Plus live music and demonstrations, such as the rain barrel demonstration next week. Lots of reasons to go. Trust me, just go check it out one week. Take your kids, they’ll love it.
